Diploma Pathways

Two Academic Paths Offered

Hutson’s High School program follows Indiana core 40 Requirements for the College Preparatory path.  It is accredited by the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators (AOGPE) and is a provisional member seeking accreditation by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS).  Our on-site visit for full accreditation is planned for fall of 2011. 

College Preparatory

This path will prepare students for a college experience.  A minimum of 45 credits are required to graduate.    Seniors must complete 30 hours of community service the summer prior to or during their senior year.  Participation in an Advisory Program will help students further develop organizational skills, understand their learning profiles, and utilize accommodations needed for academic success.  The course work for this path includes English, Composition,  Math (Pre-algebra, Algebra I & II, Geometry, Applied Math, Pre-Calculus), Social Studies (World History/Civilizations, American History, Economics/Government), Science (Biology, Earth Science, Integrated Physics/Chemistry), Technology, foreign language (American Sign Language),  Speech, Physical Education, Health/Wellness, Orton Gillingham tutorial, Art, and Ethics.

General Diploma

This path will prepare students for a transition to life experience.  Students will be required to earn 46 credits for graduation.  One credit will be earned through community service the summer prior to or during the senior year.  Participation in an Advisory Program will help students further develop organizational skills, understand their learning profiles, and utilize accommodations needed for academic success.  The General Diploma course work includes English, Writing Workshop/OG Tutorial, Math (General Math I and II, Algebra IA and IB), Social Studies (US History, US Government), Science (Earth Science, Biology), Technology, Physical Education, Health/Wellness, Art, and Careers (classroom and courses through Career Centers).
