Racing to the Finish
Ah! The month of May in Indianapolis is filled with excitement as everyone looks forward to "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing". Crowds once again are forming  out at the track in anticipation of hearing those famous words Ladies and Gentlemen, Start Your Engines! At Hutson, this year has flown by as quickly as those spectacular cars that speed around the track. It feels like we just started the year. Now, we are racing to the finish of another school year.

This year, we have seen some amazing transformations in our students.....
Take for example Student A. This young boy entered the doors of Hutson very sad, fearful, and honestly, a bit stubborn!! Everything was going to be "too hard" for him. His coping strategies were to cry in hopes that his teachers would allow him to give up. Needless to say, tears were not an option. Race forward to today. This young boy now enters school smiling, giving hugs, shares stories, and confidently gets to work!
                                        -or-

Take for example Student B.  This young boy, with family in tow, entered Hutson so very anxious. You see, his past school experience was painful for the entire family. The boy was deeply affected by his past experiences and as we all know, this also affects the family. For several weeks, this boy was walked into our school by a parent or grandparent. Then, slowly but surly, the transformation began. Student B began getting dropped off at the curb. He began to enter the building without family support. He smiled and said hello. He began hugging his teachers and started to walk with a confident step!
Today, this amazing young boy has grown leaps and bounds both academically and emotionally!
                                        -or-

Take for example Student C. This young lady had been so paralyzed with fear and anxiety about school after trying to keep her head above water for several years in her parochial school. These years of stress had left this girl unable to go to school anymore. After many phone conversations between the parent, the student, and her soon to be Hutson teacher, this young lady entered to doors of our school very apprehensive. Fast forward 5 months to today. This young lady now springs out of her car and confidently enters the doors of Hutson. Her grades are good and she has many friends. She has blossomed like the flowers in May.

Yes, this year has flown by. It has been a wonderful year of transformations.
