Giving

Through the generosity of donors and volunteers, the quality of education at The Hutson School is enhanced in the following areas:

  • Enrichment of the academic programs through Visiting Artists
  • Need-based student scholarships
  • Facility improvements
  • Staff development

You can support Hutson through monetary contributions:

Annual Giving Campaign:  Our yearly campaign begins in October and ends in December.  Our goal is to have 100% participation by parents, staff and board, and to encourage participation by the many friends of the school.

United Way Campaign:
The Hutson school qualifies as a non-member, which means that the school may receive funds as long as you designate The Hutson school as the recipient on your United Way form!

Matching Gifts
:  If a company with which you are associated offers a matching gifts program, your contribution to The Hutson school doubles or even triples.  Simply send your company's matching gifts for with your contribution and we'll do the rest.

Gifts of Property:  Securities, life insurance, real estate, art objects, collectables, and other types of personal property have the potential to be a suitable charitable gift. Generally, if the value of an item has appreciated so that it generates long-term capital gain if sold, it is generally better to donate the appreciated assets to the school rather than selling it and donating the proceeds. Consult your attorney or tax advisor to find out what is best for your situation.

Bequests:  The simplest of planned gifts is a bequest, which is a provision in your will for a gift to the school. A charitable bequest is fully deductible from your estate and can help reduce estate taxes. Your bequest may be in the form of cash, securities, real estate or other property. It can also take the form of a percentage of your total estate.

Other types of bequests include residuary bequests and contingent bequests. They may also be restricted or unrestricted. Due to the school's ever-changing needs, an unrestricted bequest allows the school the use the funds where they are most needed. You should consult with your attorney or financial advisor to determine the best solution for you.

Why an Annual Giving Campaign?

Our donors and supporters make it possible for The Hutson School to provide an individualized and hands-on education to our students with learning differences. Our Annual Giving Campaign helps us maintain our 6:1 student to teacher ratio and ensures that our students realize their potential. Student tuition only covers a fraction of our operating budget. The remaining funds must be raised through Hutson's fundraising activities. Like all independent private not for profit day schools, Hutson receives no public or government funding and relies solely on tuition payments and outside support. The Annual Giving supports our operating expenses that are not covered by student tuition such as technology, financial aid, and building repairs. Annual Giving gifts are tax deductible and are vital to the continued success of The Hutson School. Alumni, parents, faculty, and friends may contribute to the Annual Giving Campaign through various giving vehicles.

The Hutson School is a not for profit 501(C) 3 Corporation. Student tuition and contributions support a major portion of the school's annual operating expenses. The Hutson School operates on a budget of $1,000,000.00

You and your organization can be part of the miracle of growth at The Hutson School in two ways.
